I've been doing a lot of reading political blogs and crazy right wing messageboards in the past few days. People really seem to love the choice of Sarah Palin as the VP for the GOP. People seem to love the "new to Washington" thing. I don't. McCain could quite possibly die in office and I don't think she's cut out to take over. But there are people who are saying that they would vote for her for the position. This whole thing with her daughter being pregnant is really helping her with evangelicals and pro-lifers. Everybody who supports abstinence only programs for the nation's schools are very understanding about this, it seems. I think that she and John McCain are very likely to win the election in November and that pisses me off because if we keep having Republican presidents, I don't think weed will ever be legalized. I wish there was some type of frowning smiley I could put here.
Lifted from the Rapture Ready board:
"I support Sarah Palin and will no doubt be voting for McCain/Palin. I also look forward to Sara Palin's future and think she would make an excellent president. She's clearly the best thing that's happened in politics that I can remember (perhaps since Ronald Reagan)."
Really? Some people make decisions pretty quickly, I guess. Yikes. I am also not hopeful about a debate with Palin v. Joe Biden because I think that Biden will be painted as a bully if he's too forceful with his points. I just see everything breaking bad for the democrats this fall.

I definitely agree with you on the need for taking the time to listen and research what the politicians are saying. The next President of the United States has some serious issues to deal with. I don't want just a pretty face or a gimmicky campaign to be the reason someone takes the oval office next January. Think! Question! And never trust what a politician tells you--any of them :).
