F that noise

I got rid of my C box on the side because it was lame and added a more worthwhile link to the infamous blue Best Show On WFMU archive page. The C box was kind of lame because for every 100 hits I'd get I'd get one dude on there going, "Um....... frankly..... um..... yuh." So fuck that.
Today I finally got to hang out with Ryan and Mike for the first time in a while. Ryan, Jess and I went to Wal Mart so Ryan could get an HDMI cable for his new PS3. That was cool and I looked at external hard drives, but didn't see the size I wanted. All they have is 160 and 320gb and I just need a 60gb one. Well, after searching around online just now it looks like all of the companies have discontinued their 60gb hard drives. That suck because I don't need all kinds of crazy memory when I only have a 30gb ipod. Oh well, I'm sure it will work itself out. Maybe I'll just look on ebay.

At Wal Mart, because children under 25 are all scum, I ended up yelling down the aisle at these kids who I thought were Ryan and Jess. Both these kids were wearing almost identical clothing and the girl even had the same color hoodie as Jess. I don't think they noticed when I bellowed "Did he find it?! Oh!" Then laughed and took off. It's funny how when something like that happens you sort of run around all nervous for a second until you find your actual friends and tell them about it. That hasn't happened to me in a long time and it was funny and weird. Anyway, Ryan found the cable he needed, we got some food and then split.

For the first time since ever, we hung out at Ryan's and didn't drink! That's monumental! Most of the drinking is my fault because I always take a bottle over, but tonight we just all chilled. Mike came over and we watched I Love Money, which was like a recap episode. I've never seen the show but I don't get what's good about it. Just looks meh to me. We did see the preview for the new season of The Pickup Artist, which starts October 12th. I plan on watching that this season. Now that I officially have no life, I've got to start building a list of shows to watch and keep up with. That's what everyone else does, right?

Also, Ryan got NOFX tickets for October 24th in Baltimore! So awesome and only $20! That's going to rock. I haven't seen them in 10 years and that was just a little half hour set at the Warped Tour.

Natalie is single again!

Mount Foomore

So this week was pretty standard. I didn't job hunt like I wanted to, but I will get on that soon. Bah! It sucks!
For the past few days I was searching for this piece of classical and finally found it last night. It's Smetana's Moldau and it's pretty awesome. It's about twelve minutes long and it really builds and it's just great. I was actually looking for it for my mom because she was asking for it. I'm sort of teaching her to use iTunes now because I told her I'd get her an ipod. The only thing is I don't think she'll ever actually use it.

Yesterday I went to visit my friend's parents, the dude who plays all the guitar, that I mentioned back in August. I hung out with them for a while and we watched Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond and talked. They're cool as hell. We were talking about one of our friends who is in Turkey right now getting married. Actually, I think he already is married, so that's cool. I think he'll be home in a week or two and I can't wait to talk to him. Lately, he's just been emailing sporadically.

Anyway, I came home from their house, walked my dogs and watched the season premiere of The Office, which was good. I normally have to work Thursdays, but I hope that I can see more episodes this season. I keep telling myself that I'll get all the DVDs (I only have season one), but just haven't gotten around to it. Also, last night I listened to this week's Best Show and heard Tom give a thoroughly negative critique of Olivia Munn much to Steve's dismay, I'm sure. Great show this week though. I loved Tom slamming the Mac store and their sales staff. I also loved his plans for cleaning up the circus.
This may be kind of a long entry. I haven't hung out with Mike or Ryan in a while. Ryan said his new job is really stressful and he's been just crashing at night. Understandable. I don't really know what the heck Mike is up to. Anyway, other than people that live in other states, I have no friends. I'm calling it now. Tomorrow might be cool because I'm going to a party with people from work. That should be very fun. The people at my work are wicked cool, but slightly younger than me. Still, they're always inviting me to do stuff or go out. If it wasn't for those dudes, I would seriously have no life right now.

Damn, Hermione!

Lately, I've gotten so many punk albums that it isn't even funny. Pretty much everything I had on tape when I was a kid. So I'm rocking out pretty much constantly now and I love it. Other than that, not too much else going on lately. I got a few comedy albums in the last few days too. I discovered a great new forum called Yahooka that is really cool I got the second disc of the Comedy Death Ray album, which features great sets from Jimmy Pardo, Andy Daly and Neil Hamburger. I might put up the Andy Daly clip, but it's really short, still it's great in an interesting sort of way. Anyway, I want to get the first disc as soon as I can.

Today, I just worked which was pretty cool. I work again tomorrow so that should be cool. I hope I get off early. Tonight I left at 9 which rocked. Well, as you can see there isn't much to write about.

More Palin bullshit

A guy in the next neighborhood over has this in his yard. That's proud right there. The thing is is I don't know if it's meant sarcastically or not. That's the kicker! It's actually funny because it was the first yard sign that I ever heard about through word of mouth. I heard where it was, but the person who told me about it didn't know what it said. Leave it to some goon to create this masterpiece and sell it on Cafepress. Uggghhh. Again, I just wish I knew what the intent was on the part of the person whose yard it adorns!

Tonight I went to see Pineapple Express. It was pretty good. I thought James Franco was awesome in it and I loved the ending when the dudes are having breakfast for no real reason. I loved the Bill Hader thing at the beginning too. I'm trying to think of the preview I saw.... oh yeah, Lakeview Terrace or whatever. Oh yeah and Dark Knight. I know that that's four months too late, but this is kind of a second run theater in the next town where movies go about six weeks before they come out on digital versatile disc. I actually went to see the movie because my Mom wanted to. Saturday night, hangin' with the mom, why not? I thought that the audience which was mostly kids was pretty cool and not texting or answering their phones. Relatively shenanigan free crowd, I thought. Probably because, well, hopefully, they were mostly high.

Here's another awesome poster I found in the search results for the Palin sign.

I've been watching this show called Backstage Passport on Fuse. I don't know if each season of the show follows a different band and I just happened to get Fuse while the NOFX season was airing or what. Actually I don't really know when these episodes aired because I just watch it on demand. Thanks, Comcast! I love NOFX and the show basically follows them on this tour to all these different South American countries, Indonesia and Isreal. At least those are the ones I've seen. Anyway, if you have Fuse check the show out. It rocks.

Anyway, because I've been watching the show I wanted to actually buy a CD yesterday. The CD was the first NOFX live album, I Heard They Suck Live. On their website I had seen that they had another forthcoming live record, They've Actually Gotten Worse Live. The website said it came out November 20th. Anyway, I go to FYE yesterday and BOOM! There it is! Two months ahead of schedule. Even on Amazon it says 11/20, but if you click on it, you can purchase it. Anyway, I was somewhat miffed that the record store didn't have the earlier live album, but this new one is great. All the fun of I Heard They Suck, but done with mostly newer songs. There are even electric versions of acoustic songs like Whoops I OD'd and You're Wrong. I know there are a ton of people who hate NOFX, but fuck that! They're fantastic at what they do. On the other side of the spectrum I love Bad Religion, but I like comedy and dorkiness too, what can I say? So anyway, I'm listening to a lot more punk now. I mentioned that I got the new TVOTR, but I haven't listened to a track off it yet. Tomorrow, I need to look for new Kings Of Leon.
EDIT: I'm dumb. The NOFX album wasn't in record stores early, it was released 11/20/07. You'll have this.

This week was pretty sweet. I worked every other day, so that was cool. I'm making enough now that I never have to dip into savings for money anymore. My brother wrote and said that I should come out to Los Angeles, which is something I've been dying to do, but I'm not sure I'll have money. Damn, I would love to go out there though so I could go to UCB Jr.

A new week begins

My mind is a blur when I think about what I've been doing the past few days. I've been working quite a bit and I guess that's sort of making the days run together. Also, I keep beginning to watch movies and then stopping five minutes in to turn the channel. I have too many channels now!!

The other day my Dad wrote me appalled because he saw Tokio Hotel on Jimmy Kimmel (because there was a chance my brother was going to be on). I have no idea about what they sing or anything and I couldn't find a picture on the web that I feel like posting. I guess they won the MTV best new artist award at the VMA's, which is cool as long as Katy Perry didn't win. I can't stand Katy Perry for some reason. I Kissed A Girl has the most compressed sounding vocals I've ever heard. God, that song was everywhere for a while and I hated it! I'm ready for some good new music for fall. After keeping my eyes peeled for the new TV On The Radio album for weeks I forgot about it for a week and a half and it leaked, so I must go find that tonight or tomorrow. Update: I just found it after 15 seconds of searching. I hope it's good.

At work we've been listening to a lot of Kings Of Leon lately. The song Knocked Up comes up on shuffle a ton. We were saying yesterday how we all really like the song and how the CD changer must like it too.
I have to work again tomorrow, so tonight I haven't really done much but watch Adult Swim and a ton of CNN. Big whoopty doo. I'll write more tomorrow.

Little update

Since the last time I wrote I've just been working and watching movies. We got a new cable service a few weeks ago, so we now have about 50 more channels than we used to. Last Friday I watched House Of 1,000 Corpses, which was alright. I don't know if I'm really a fan of Rob Zombie's movies, although I would like to see his version of Halloween. The other night I watched Gus Van Sant's Elephant, which I thought was cool.
So get this, OK, I noticed we have G4 now, so I started watching it here and there. I've become a fan of their show, Attack Of The Show, which I had been watching pretty much all week. So on Wednesday night, the one night I didn't watch it, because I was at Ryan's, my brother ended up being on it! He had an awesome segment where they did a parody of a video clip where a guy set fire to his car to get rid of wasps. I ended up catching the show the following day at noon. I thought he did great and thought that the segment was really funny.

Maybe I'll write more later.

I'm no expert

I've been doing a lot of reading political blogs and crazy right wing messageboards in the past few days. People really seem to love the choice of Sarah Palin as the VP for the GOP. People seem to love the "new to Washington" thing. I don't. McCain could quite possibly die in office and I don't think she's cut out to take over. But there are people who are saying that they would vote for her for the position. This whole thing with her daughter being pregnant is really helping her with evangelicals and pro-lifers. Everybody who supports abstinence only programs for the nation's schools are very understanding about this, it seems. I think that she and John McCain are very likely to win the election in November and that pisses me off because if we keep having Republican presidents, I don't think weed will ever be legalized. I wish there was some type of frowning smiley I could put here.
Lifted from the Rapture Ready board:
"I support Sarah Palin and will no doubt be voting for McCain/Palin. I also look forward to Sara Palin's future and think she would make an excellent president. She's clearly the best thing that's happened in politics that I can remember (perhaps since Ronald Reagan)."

Really? Some people make decisions pretty quickly, I guess. Yikes. I am also not hopeful about a debate with Palin v. Joe Biden because I think that Biden will be painted as a bully if he's too forceful with his points. I just see everything breaking bad for the democrats this fall.

The great debate

I'm still getting a lot of hits from people searching for the Newbridge Mayubernatorial Debate, so I'm putting up the MP3 to try and get people into voting and give people a way to get to know the candidates. Represented in this debate are Hammerhead, Philly Boy Roy, Tor Halversom, Zachary Brimstead Esq., Fred Meyers, Pudge Palfner, Timmy Von Trimble, AP Mike and Marky Ramone. Many of the other candidates had dropped out of the race prior to the debate, so these are most of the remaining candidates. Go to Friendsoftom.com (where there's a new forum for new people!) for details and info. Remember, if you like what you hear, please go to iTunes and subscribe under comedy podcasts. I hope you enjoy!

Real Life To Catch a Predator

Just read about this on Aspecialthing tonight. This guy does his own web show and does stand up too, I think. This video shows one example of how much fucked up shit goes on in Wal Mart parking lots every day. It also shows how quickly and deftly Wal Mart security reacts to potentially dangerous situations. I think it's pretty cool. I'm going to adopt several phrases from this video into my own day to day writing and speech. Check it.
