When black Friday comes....!

I hope that anyone reading this had a tremendous Thanksgiving! I had a pretty good one. I got to see some family and talk with some friends on the phone and that was cool. I was supposed to have to work the holiday, but they gave me off at the last minute because our business was down a bit from last year. Three of us got to be off and they drew names out of a hat.

So today I went out and did a little shopping and that was fun. Super hot girls at the mall, which was like "Whaaaaaaaaat?!" Holy smokes. Then I went over and chilled with my friend's stepdad and mom. We had a pretty good time watching a rerun of the old Daniel Boone TV show. Then I came home and waited to go out to dinner which was at 8:30. I was starving and on top of that we were going to Outback, an establishment where I'd never previously dined. I thought that was alright, but I got this weird salad that had fries in it and was lacking in the steak dept.

I did a new artwork that I thought was alright. The colors took me forever to get right, but I accidentally deleted it. I never accidentally delete stuff, so I'm kind of bummed on that.

Tonight I'm finally catching up on all the NNF episodes that I missed because I just signed up for the season 4 primo like four days ago. So glad that I was off tonight and I'm also off tomorrow, which rules. Don't get me wrong, being at work is totally cool, but I still like a day off now and again.

Last night I cleaned up my hard drive a bit. I really need an external jobbie though because my iPod has only been two thirds full since I got it. Granted that's still 3,400 songs, so I'm getting by. Yesterday's last post was just this art thing I did in MS Paint because I fuck with that waaayyy too much. I thought when you clicked it it would open up to full size, which is really huge, but I guess Picasa shrank it down. If that was printed on a wall I think it would be about 7ft. long. Oh well, I think I'll do more colored square drawings in the future. They titillate me.

I am the chimpy child on who fortune has smiled

So, yesterday we had the first snowfall of the year. That was cool, but I just don't want winter this year at all. The snow really pissed me off and I was pretty grumpy yesterday, I have to say. I had fun at work, but then screwed it up by whining about being a mutant. I'm such an idiot.

On thursday night I got this live album by Sean Cullen, a Canadian comic that I've heard about for a long time (mostly from NNF), but whose stuff I had never come across before. The album is called Live and it's really, really great. I'm just listening to it for the second time, but at the end of the first listen I was thinking that it might be the best stand up album I've ever heard.

Tonight at work shit was chill. Nothing else to add to that really. I owe people emails. I've been listening to more oldies. Be sure to vote in my first ever readers's poll!

Also, I said that I would put up an episode of Never Not Funny. This is a good one, which I think is from early September. It has my favorite guest, Pat Francis and I think it's a great episode for people who are new to the show. Go subscribe in iTunes or go to Pardcast.com and sign up for the primo. Best of luck to you!

Here's a Sean Cullen video of two good songs.

Yes!

"From Jimmy Pardo's hit podcast "Never Not Funny," it's the T-shirt everyone's asking for. Now you, too, can convey exasperation when a friend or loved one is unable to grasp the concept of popcorn served in a bag. The stunning retro logo design has been painstakingly weathered to evoke a bygone era when bagged popcorn was the exception, not the rule. Screen printed on the softest, smoothest and best-looking red American Apparel 100% cotton jersey tee. $20"

If I read AST more often, I would have known about this and posted it with the 'Bag o' corn, friend!' post. I want my blog to be the number one search result for the words 'bag', 'corn' and 'friend'. Just either of those words on their own. Anyway, check the AST store for more 'Bag o' corn, friend' related products. Yes, they have a chip clip!

I know you would

So these two days have been alright. Last night I got to chill with Ryan for the first time in almost a month so that was good. We went to Giant and I wanted to get these microwaveable wings. Well, last time I bought them they were like $7.99 for a decent sized bag. So in Giant I grab these two bags which I didn't realize were twice the size of the ones I normally buy. I get to the register and ring them up and they're $18.99 each. For some reason I still bought both. This morning I was like "Why the hell did I still buy two?!" Oh well, it's not like I won't eat them and they are really good, although I'm sure they're horrible nutrition-wise.
Hanging out with Ryan and Jess was really fun and I even got to see Mike for a little while. We cracked jokes and watched Prison Break, which is the most insane show I've ever seen. They do stuff on that show that couldn't ever really happen. It's so inane. Then we watched some live Queen on Ondemand and that was incredible. We planned to exchange gifts for Christmas and I think that will totally rock. Later we watched Scream Queens on VH1. Watching most TV is a good reminder for me of why I barely watch any TV. I'm just on the internet all the time.

Today was just whatever. I have to work at 11am tomorrow, which is early for me. I hate working during the day time because the atmosphere is kind of lame, but I might be working with a girl I get along good with, so that could be fun. I guess it's just the lunch crowd that I don't like dealing with. Take the good with the bad, I guess.
I decided not to put up a playlist because really, who gives a shit, but I will upload this song that I've been loving lately. I seem to be on a real 2006 kick for some reason. Listening to songs from back then reminds me of when I could travel. This song reminds me of going to Colorado even though most of the time I was out there I was listening to Johnny Cash. Anyway, check out this song, it's awesome.

Ahh,..... the internet

"Bag o'corn, friend!!" - Jimmy Pardo
I've gotten a surprisingly high number of hits since my last post. The phrase, taken from episode 319 (I'm pretty sure) of the award winning podcast Never Not Funny, is just so fun to say. It's even more fun to shout. If you've never heard the show, you don't know what you're missing. I never thought I would pay for a podcast, but after about 90 solidly hilarious episodes of the pardcast I had no chance but to sign the fuck up and follow Jimmy, Matt and 3rd chair Pat Francis (my favorite guest!) into the next stage. At less than $.77 an episode why wouldn't I? I need to find out what shitty concert Jimmy's going to next. In just a few short months I will have been listening to Never Not Funny for three years. Boy, did the time fly. If you're not into paying for the podcast yet, you can still download the first 20 minutes of each episode from iTunes. Just look under comedy podcasts.
I'll probably put up an episode later in the week as a sampler.

What else? I've got to change the header graphic again. This one seems like it's been up forever. I blame that on the fact that I've been spending way too much time dicking around on the internet lately. I've been listening to a ton of new music lately though and that's been good. I think that later this week, maybe later today I'm going to put up a playlist. Be like McCain's daughter.
Work tonight was chill. Right before work was Pineapple Express, so that was cool. At work this old dude totally walked out on his check. That kind of sucked. Mostly tonight I just chilled while everybody played Mariokart on these two DSes(?) these girls brought in. I didn't know that DSes could play each other via WiFi. That was cool. Also at work in one of the refrigerators I found my toy black Berettas from my Halloween costume. Sweet. I'm off the next two days. Woo hoo!

Bag o' corn, friend!

I am so tired today it isn't even funny. I don't know what I did. So today is a good day just to relax and catch up on podcasts and stuff.
I had to work yesterday and that was pretty cool, but we were dead so nobody really made any money. I finished up early, came home and I think I was in bed by like 12. Tomorrow is going to be awesome. We have the awesomest crew and Sundays are always chill. Also, I checked my bank account and I have more money than I thought I did, so that rocks.

I don't really have anything to say at all, so I don't know why I'm posting. At work yesterday I realized that the laziest guitar solo in the history of recorded music is during Oasis' Don't Go Away, right after the line "Me and you, what's goin' on?" That's a pretty lazy song in general. I can't find a video that I can embed here. I don't want to put Oasis on my blog, anyway. I work with this dude who really likes them, so I get to hear them all the time. They're not terrible, I just don't particularly like them. Anyway, if you hear Don't Go Away, listen for the guitar part. Actually, you won't have to listen that closely because it'll jump out at you. It's that uncreative and sloppy.

One week later

Damn, I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted. For some reason tonight felt like a Friday, hence the staying up until all hours. Lately, my sleep has been really weird, but I got a lot of good sleep last night, so I'm not too worried about it.
I've worked every day since Sunday and that has been alright. I went out Saturday for a friend's birthday -she was turning 21 at midnight- and spent way too much money. I'm glad that I never go to bars anymore because I can't seem to hang on to any of my money once I start crushing liquor. Months ago I would go to Coakley's a few times a week and I was easily spending over $100 a week in that place. Fantastic place though if you're ever in the area. Anyway, so I've curbed my spending a lot and that's been great. But now when I do go out and spend money like an asshole, I feel like one the next day. Oh well, I had fun going out on Saturday night and even got to make my second stop of the year at Pete's. This town never changes. Oh also on Saturday I drove for a mile and a half with a cop behind me when I person my size would be way over the legal limit. Don't drive drunk. Unless it's from New Cumberland to Lemoyne. Then you have to.

Anyway, so what else. I'm supposed to write this letter to my Grandma for, like, ever. I already have it written, it's just a matter of putting it in the mail. I probably need to rewrite as it was written about three weeks ago. I don't know, it's not like there have been any new developments. What the fuck ever. I forgot to play the lottery today. I hate that.

Work has been really chill and everything there has been really fun. Sunday night we just chilled. Monday I worked during the day and we talked about Radiohead. Last night and tonight we were pretty busy but I was able to cap off both nights in a good way because my coworkers are awesome and we enjoy the same things.
Man, Sunday night this woman came in and gave me the biggest sob story I'd ever heard in my life. In fact, I've never even had someone give me a sob story, but hers was a great one to start with. In retrospect, I think she was just trying to get free shit. She did get a free soda and I covered the tax on her kids meal, so maybe she's on to something. It was weird though. She was there for this singles dance which we have once a month in one of the banquet rooms. Hey old people, you stink!!!!! Seriously. If you told me last week that old people smell I would have thought you meant like in a cute way. Get 150 of them in a room though and see what happens. Holy man!!

So right now I'm just listening to WFMU and chilling. Tonight I just surfed the net and worked on some stupid shit. Listened to some '80s and some oldies just surfing channels in the radio feature in information Tunes. Speaking of WFMU I got a friend at work to at least act like she's going to check out The Best Show. I don't know when I'll see her again so it'll be interesting to see if she actually checks it out. I'm definitely not going to keep bringing it up.

Anyway, I'm off today. Maybe I'll go get McDonalds Steak and Eggs bagel. Probably not though. I should get some sleep. I've got Pineapple Express shit to do later and I can't miss that.

Here we go with an edit!

TV On The Radio - Return To Cookie Mountain
I uploaded this for a guy at work tonight so I figured I'd post it here once again, as I did when it first came out in 2006 (old blog). This is a really fantastic album if you haven't already heard it. Lately I have been itching to hear it. It's ironic too because as much as I love this record I am just now listening to the new one, Dear Science, which I've had for about two months it seems. The new album's good, but Return To Cookie Mountain is better.

Jay Reatard - Singles 06-07
This is pretty good too if you like his stuff. I loved Blood Visions. It's definitely linked to a certain time for me and that's what can make an album just amazing sometimes.

Anyway, today I didn't do anything except work and read the newspaper. Work was great except for a few small problems. I thought I did alright, but later figured I came up about ten bucks short on the night. I did eat a great steak though.
At work we are all in the habit of reading our horoscopes and comparing the number of stars we have for the day. Today I had five stars (which I always seem to, go figure) and the little 'Tonight:' thing said 'talking over dinner'. Talking over dinner is what I see every night, so what's up? But then I had dinner with a friend and it ended up being cool.

I made a candy run midway through the night and found the most awesome Laffy Taffy thats shaped like a Slim Jim. Bought 8 of those even though I was really looking for a new Twizzlers product called Twerps which are super good. My friend at work said he was wild about Twerps but had begun to wonder if they weren't just around for a limited time (to appeal to the college kids?). Twerps are like a much bigger Twizzler with crazy filling in the middle. They're not long like a Twizzler though, they're just a half inch section of one (think Nib). My friend said what he liked about them was the continuation of the idea that started with Bonkers in the '80s. Get two different textures of gummy stuff and combine them. That's my take on everything.

At work tonight there was trivia and this question had nearly everyone stumped for about twenty minutes. Everyone had the first two, which you dear reader, will no doubt get in seconds flat but the third one is pretty tough. Check it:

What are the top three highest grossing movie franchises where every major character is British?

They can be played by Americans or whoever but the characters are British. Franchises, people. Highest grossing.

So Barack Obama! Here we go, ladies and gentlemen!

Nice!

Today I woke up, voted and went to work. It was nice to get to work and know that I wouldn't have to pay attention to what was going on until it was settled. I am so happy that it isn't ongoing into tomorrow afternoon. Even though I know that the next four years will filled with challenges and new problems, I'm so glad that Barack Obama and Joe Biden will be our leaders. I hope things go well for us all. So that's that. Also on January 21st, 2009, I hope that we will deploy special ops forces into Pakistan who will go completely undetected, moving only in shadow until Osama Bin Laden is captured. Let's treat this thing like it's 2002 all over again!
Tonight at work was really cool and I made pretty decent money. By the time the election had been called, most of the people were gone and everyone who was working at the time had voted for Obama so we had the TVs turned up and were watching the footage of Grant Park right before Obama's speech. Earlier in the night I had come home to burn a CD for this girl and I tried to tune into The Best Show to see if the winner of the mayubernatorial election had been announced. I heard a snippet of, I believe, Paul F. Tompkins calling in, but am listening now to see if my guy, A.P. Mike, actually pulled out a W.
Anyway, then I headed back to work to finish up. Getting out of there tonight wasn't bad at all. I worked with all cool girls tonight and we had a pretty easy time. It's fun because most of the girls I work with I actually love. Seriously, they were so cool and nice to me when I used to totally suck at my job. When I first started, Oh my God, some of the questions I asked. But they were cool and as I've gotten better they've become even cooler and we have way more fun now than we first did. What can I say? I love them.

OK, Tom is reading the results of the Newbridge Mayubernatorial election now! Here we go!

15. Joe The Plumber
14. Paul from Consolidated Cardboard
13. Thor from Newbridge
12. Chief Ray Ploppleton
11. Tor Halversom
10. Dr. Fred Meyers
09. Bob
08. Bishop Pablo Fontana
07. Todd Palin
06. Zachary Brimstead esq.
05. Hammerhead
04. Pudge Palfner
03. Marky Ramone (2,927 votes)
02. Associate Producer Mike (3,005 votes)
01. Philly Boy Roy Zeigler (3,136 votes)

A fantastic acceptance call from Roy tonight. It's nice to see someone elected who has a clear vision of where he wants to take Newbridge.

Weird weekend

So this weekend was alright. The parties that I went to were pretty fun, even though I was barely at the one my coworkers were throwing. I showed up there and immediately left with two of my friends. Then we came back and left right away to go to a nearby bar. Both nights were pretty fun, but could have been better. One of my friends was Marilyn Monroe as a robot and all I can say about that is fugettaboutit. There was supposed to be a dance off between two girls that I work with, but one girl didn't show up. There were a lot less people from work than I thought there would be. After the party on Saturday there was a bit of a dust up, which kind of put a damper on things. Then we thought that the cops were going to come. At this point in the night I lost track of both my Ruffstuff Electronic Blasters. So they're somewhere out there.

Not much to say about the party Friday night. The coolest part about that was that we walked to a riverfront bar using the crazy railroad access roads and bridges that link this part of Lemoyne to the street that runs along the river. That was cool. No girls at this party though, which it really could have used.

Yesterday was chill, but I was feeling a little hungover. I never get a hangover, so when I do it really puts a damper on things. Anyway, I went to restaurant for a little bit and then came home and went to sleep. That was kind of annoying too, because I went to sleep so early that I was up by three, but had no energy to really do anything.

I don't know what I'll do today. I want to avoid karaoke night at all costs.
