I had to post this

I had to post this... best book title ever. If you're not listening to The Best Show you're really missing out on the awesome lately.
I have off tomorrow and I'm psyched. Hope everyone's Easter was good. Mine was chill. My friend John came back from Iraq for the last time, and now he's in the Philippines picking up his lady and getting ready to move her to America for good. They're moving to Delaware where he and another friend of mine are opening a bar. How fantastic is that?! More blogging to follow but I'm in the FOT chat tonight for now.

Working
Bah, I should be in Austin or just returning from Austin right now! Same as last year. I've wanted to go to SXSW since before my friends moved there, and here I sit having missed it and seeing them for the second year in a row!! I am super sad about this. Especially missing the Mess With Texas party which boasted such acts as NOFX and Jay Reatard, as well as comedy from Brian Posehn, the Human Giant, Jon Glaser, Scott Aukerman (who I've been loving on Never Not Funny), BJ Porter, Paul F. Tompkins and like a hundred more people. The awesomeness of what I missed is just dawning on me as I write this. Not to mention that I miss my friends who live in Austin and constantly tell me I need to get down there. I really do need to get down there or get somewhere. I feel like I've been here forever just because I haven't traveled in about eight months. I'm freaking out about it too. I know I haven't updated much lately but that's because of moving, working, starting a new job, taxes and a list of other things, not the least of which is playing Super Nintendo again. Word.

Friday night
Not much going on tonight. Today I focused on moving and that was pretty productive. I actually got a lot of stuff moved so I'm psyched on that. I also found out that I can get the Salvation Army to pick up some of my furniture so I'm really happy about that. god, I have so much stuff though. I don't want to just get rid of stuff that I know I probably should. Like there is no reason that I should be hanging on to my roughly 200 cassette tapes and 100 VHS tapes, but for some reason I can't see getting rid of them. Maybe I need to contact Anything INC and see if they can sell them for me.
Yesterday started out as the most shitty heartbreaking day I've had in a while, but then Ryan called me and we went to Coakley's and that was fun. Then I chilled with Dana who I haven't seen in about four months and that was fun too. We watched The King Of Kong and that is a great movie. Then we went to Pete's and actually ran into some of the old Pete's crew. Writing about Pete's makes me wish that I had kept my blog from 2005 and 2006 up. Oh well, but it does make me reminisce and want to read back what I had written about that establishment then. Pete's used to be so rad and it's funny, but that was basically the entire sentiment of what we all talked about there last night. Pete's was a great thing, what can I say.
Hey i just realized that today is the two year anniversary of me subscribing to the Zach G. newsletter! No, just kidding, that doesn't really matter. Yesterday at Coakley's, Ryan and I were trying to figure out if we could book a flight where it would take us to Boulder and LA like one big trip. First, hit Boulder for like three or four days, then fly to LA and then fly from LA back to the 'burg. That could be pretty sweet. I hope it works out. I'm not due to be getting paid time off for a while but I don't give a fuck. I need to travel. I get too stir crazy staying in the 'burg for too long. Definitely going through that right now. I can't fucking wait to get the fuck out of this fucking town for at fucking least a few fucking days.

I pledged!
The Best show raised over $50,000 last night and the show was an out and out W. Patton did a great character, a car salesman who later passed out after applying Blue to his chapped lips. Video highlights are here. Ted Leo and Gib Benson were both in the house performing songs, and again, it was a terrific show!

So yeah
Well, I'm back at work and it's going OK. I've been drinking a lot of rum on the sly lately. Probably not too good. I need to start writing more, I know, but I'm just usually too tired when I get home to hammer shit out. Not that that's an excuse. I've been catching up on podcasts and just chilling mostly. Hung out with Mike and Ryan the other night and that was pretty cool. I got invited to go to the beach in the beginning of the summer, so that's nice, but I'm only going if Ryan really insists that I go because I don't want to take, take, take from people. Even though I was invited and all.
Right now I'm listening to the second night of Tom Scharpling's Best Show pledge marathon and it's terrific. Ted Leo is doing Rush's Spirit Of Radio as I type this and it's awesome. Maybe I'll post more later. Definitely some shit going on.
