This is the first episode of Epiclylater'd in two parts. Spawn is an inspiration to me lately just because of his freewheeling ways.

Oh man...
Well, I found out yesterday that it's pretty much guaranteed that I won't be able to go back to my old job. At least not starting out where I left off. I'm very freaked out by this. If I have to continue working at Amazon I'm going to be pissed. I need to find a new job but I just can't get motivated because I never see any jobs that pay more than $11 an hour. I really wanted to go back to my old job and now that dream is dead and I just feel soooo screwed. I don't know what I'm going to do.
I know I need to forget about how much money I used to make and just be happy with what I'm making now, but it's difficult knowing how badly I fucked myself here. The amount of my take home pay hasn't been this low since about 2000 when I first started with my former company. Now I've got more bills to pay and way less money to do it with. This is a total nightmare. I can forget about travelling altogether and I think I'm just going to be living like a total rat for a while. Ho hum.

Going back to work
I'm going back to work the week of March 2nd. Pretty psyched on that for right now. This way I'll be able to afford my lifestyle. Yay. Tonight I'm heading to the basement to watch some more Arrested Development. Hopefully we can get through Season 2 this weekend. I updated the Cardiel post with Part 8 which is here. I'll make a new post for the next episodes when they come out next week or whenever. Here's a Best Show clip From the fantastic album The Art Of The Slap, The Auteur. Enjoy your weekend.
East Coast Coachella
http://www.apwfestival.com/
I'm writing to tell anyone who reads this to check out the link above and secure your tickets for the All Points West Festival. Radiohead is playing two nights of the three night festival at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. This will be the first time that a single band will headline multiple nights during the same festival. Radiohead is headlining Friday August 8th and Saturday August 9th. The festival is the work of the same people behind Coachella and is meant to be sort of an east coast version. Tickets go on sale on February 29th at 12 noon.
Liberty State Park is the first place I ever saw Radiohead and I'm so tempted to go. Tickets are $89 per day, or you can get a ticket to all three days for $258. I would LOVE to catch one of the Radiohead nights, but we'll see what happens. Liberty State Park is, simply put, a gorgeous venue.

WFMU Marathon coming up

The best Best Show episodes often come during pledge time so listen up. If you pledge $75 you can receive the "We Did It Again" fun pack. You don't have to wait for the show to pledge, you can do it right now at the link below. I know it may not seem worthwhile if you don't live in the listening area but this year's fun pack looks to be a doozy. It promises a T-shirt, new stickers and a "very exciting secret surprise."
If you don't pledge online and choose to call in your pledge make sure you do it during The Best Show, Tuesday night from 8 to 11.
Today I have to start moving
I updated the Cardiel video post with part 7. That's here.Today I've got to go to my apartment and start getting ready to move. It's going to suck the way that moving always sucks. I'm glad that I can start moving stuff now though, that kind of takes the heat off a little bit. It's going to be rough fitting all my stuff in my new room but whatever. I'll figure stuff out as it happens. I just hate moving so bad! It just sucks, but at least this time I know I won't be moving again for quite a while. I've lived in my current apartment for four years but it feels like we just moved in last year. The years really flew by living there I gotta say. George was a pretty awesome roommate too. Living back at home is going to be great though because I'll have my dogs with me and I know that paying rent will help my mom out quite a bit. OK, I gotta get to work. This is going to bite. Hard.

It's snowing right now
It's really nice out right now and it's snowing a good amount. I don't know what it'll add up to inches-wise but it's nice that it's coming down. Last night I chilled with Ryan in the basement and we finally watched The Wall. Ryan says he wants to get back on watching Arrested Development soon and I wholeheartedly agree. I miss watching that show. Right now I'm listening to my brother's call that he made to The Best Show last night. Way to shine, Steve-o. Good slogan too. The FOTs on the message board seem to dig it as well. Top shelf call!

Quarterlife
Somehow I think this Quarterlife show could either be good for the cheese factor or it could royally suck. Not sure which, but I'm psyched to see it for some reason. I love any kind of twentysomethings mucking around. It could be a guilty pleasure. The website for the show looks like it's trying to be the next Myspace or something. A lot going on there. Oh well, I'm just glad that the writers strike is over and Conan and SNL can get back to new episodes.
Last night I chilled with Ryan and Mike in the basement and watched Adult Swim. Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! was great with Zach Galifiankis guest starring as The Snuggler. The guy he was playing who played The Snuggler had the best name but I forget what it was now. Oh yeah it was Prance something. That's a great first name. Aquateen was also good. Then we watched part of Radiohead Live At The Astoria and talked about how great the show is going to be. I hope Ryan doesn't get superdrunk like he did at Band Of Horses. He has been warned that it's going to suck standing up for three hours if he's really wasted. Also, I just don't want to be 'friend of annoying drunk guy'. That's a shitty role to play and drunks at Radiohead shows are invariably annoying because they yell during the quiet songs.
In other developments, I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't soon get motivated to get a job. I just don't have the will to even look and it sucks. Well, tomorrow is another day. I think I'm hanging in the basement tomorrow night so that should be fun.
Here's Radiohead's 'You' from that video. I mentioned this song a few posts ago. Pretty rockin'!
What the heck, here's 'Bones' too.
If you have the time this is a great show to watch on Youtube. Or if you have the means a great show to own on DVD. I'm still waiting for the Bonnaroo DVD to come out if that's still happening.

Candy Makes You Dandy

I don't think I've written about this before, but I am, at least for the past few months, a candyholic. I don't know when it started and I think it started with Gobstoppers, but whatever, what I'm saying is I eat a ton of candy. I eat so much candy that this year when I was asking my friends what to bring to their Christmas party they were like "Dude, of course you're bringing the candy!" So I did. I spent like $30 on Starbursts, Chocolate Riesen, Gobstoppers and I forget what else. Everybody ate it and everybody had a good time.
Lately, it's been Skittles original, and usually, if I'm headed over to the basement I'll bring some candy along. Ryan, who once told me he didn't like candy, is usually the first to start asking for some. Gobstoppers are a favorite in the basement, although I haven't gotten those in a while. Now And Laters straight up suck though. Don't waste your money, they're not how you rememebr them. But the reason that I'm writing this is to talk about Jolly Ranchers Fruit Chews! They are soooo good. I'm eating them right now and they rock. It's all the flavor of a Jolly Rancher but in the form of something that's somewhere between a Tootsie Roll and a piece of gum. They're kind of like Airheads. These are probably the first thing I've ever liked from the Chew category. Skittles could be Chews but they're really just little candies. Damn, I guess now I should update my Myspace to reflect my new found love of the Chew. Skittles are just dope though, whichever category they're in. Now And Laters are Chews but as I mentioned Now And Laters suck now.
I can't wait to go to the basement tomorrow and be like "Dudes, check this, you thought you knew how Jolly Ranchers rolled?" Dudes'll be like "Yup." I'll be like check out these Chews, bros. Jolly Ranchers, which started as a small company in Golden, Colorado in 1949 and used to make ice cream and chocolate, hath changed the game.

Well, Ryan and I are going to attempt to watch The Wall again tonight. I hope we make it the whole way through and don't pass out again. We are also going to be watching part of the Radiohead Live At The Astoria DVD. If you've not seen it, I would highly recommend it. It shows the band when they were just young rockers and they're all scrappy and shit. Not rock icons. Filmed on May 27th 1994, it's really a rare glimpse into their beginnings as a rock band. This will hopefully be my last Radiohead related post in a while. I know I've mentioned them every post for the last five but today, that all changes.
A cut up trailer for Beautiful Girls, the peed version:

I had posted a thing saying I was putting together a Radiohead Greatest Hits collection. That may or may not happen, but first I need to select tracks. I'll be thinking about what tracks to include this weekend. Whoopty doo! The only thing I'm thinking is that some of my Radiohead files are MP3s and some are M4As, so I hope that's not a problem. Again, no idea when this will be happening. Also, no idea why I thought it would be a good idea to create a greatest hits collection in the first place. I'm very curious about which tracks will be on the EMI collection to be released later this year. Somehow I think they'll ignore their early works, which is a shame because the song You from Pablo Honey should definitely make the cut, but I doubt it will.

Heeeeeeeeeeyyyyyy

I hope that everyone had a good Valentine's day. Mine was stellar as I was able to get pit tickets to Radiohead for their show in Bristow, VA on Mother's Day, May 11th. I wanted to take my mom (it would be her second show, but the first one almost doesn't count because we had horrible seats), but am taking Ryan instead. We are going to have so much fun, I just can't wait. I really need to get a job though and then I need to get off for the 12th of May because we're getting a hotel and staying down there the night of the show. We may be staying down there the night before the show too, but I'm not sure. By the time the show rolls around I won't be on funemployment anymore so the logistics are anyone's guess. I'm just psyched to be going.
In other topics, that sucks that there was another school shooting yesterday. What a shame.
On Wednesday, I went to this thing which I thought was going to be a pretty well-paying job but turned out to be a thing where they want you to go to people's houses selling air purifiers. BAH! I would have left earlier (I stayed for the whole presentation) but I didn't want to just sit home alone. I figured that I would listen to the guy's spiel because it was that or do nothing but sit on Atease all day. I really need to get a job soon though and I think Monday will be when I start treating the act of getting a job like a job. Working without a safety net and being on unemployment is way too stressful. I am a person who likes to travel and do things. I'm accustomed to a certain level of excess and this pennypinching and worrying about everything is just not for me. I can't live like this!

I'll be online all night
Expect lots of ridiculous posting as I wait for WASTE to release tickets, which will probably be between 3 and 5 am. Yipee! I'm glad the Philly and New York shows aren't going on sale tonight. Should be easy to get tickets to the show I want.
Pink Floyd - The Thin Ice
Edit: actually not much to say or post. Went to a job thing today that was the most ridiculous thing ever. More on that later.
Anyway, EMI is releasing a Radiohead greatest hits album to coincide with the tour. Here are some Greatest Hits album covers from the Best Week Ever blog.

Guess I'm going to Virginia again

http://www.radiohead.com/tourdates/
Just announced tonight at 6pm. I'm going to go to the VA show depsite my horrible time trying to see them in Virginia in 2001. I wish they'd give free admission to those who still had their Bull Run tickets, but oh well. I guess I'll spend my Valentine's day morning hitting refresh. It'll be worth it, I'm sure! Here's to spending the next three months on the At Ease MB. Woohoo!

Also, Oakland based DJ and Producer Amplive has made his new remix of In Rainbows, Rainydayz Remixes available online as a free download after much fanfare. This is seriously great! I'm listening to it now! It features Del Tha Funky Homosapien and Too $hort as well. Great to see this is finally out.You can get it here:http://www.onesevensevensix.com/amplive/index.html

You know what blows?
You can barely find any Erik Blevins online anymore. I had forgotten about Blevins but went to look for some of his treatments last night and could only find two. Maybe I'll put them up soon, but they've all been taken down from Bob and David's site. Even other sites that were archiving them removed them, probably by request. Patton Oswalt claims he'll be putting a lot of Blevins' work, including some never before seen stuff, on his site later this year but I can't wait! Like I said maybe I'll put the two that I have up soon. We'll see. Anyway, here are two more Best Show clips.

Haystack charm
So, this weekend I pretty much just tried to do this writing project that I've set out to accomplish. I'm working on it almost constantly and it feels great to just barrel into something and not give a shit about anything else. Ryan was in MD so I had plenty of free time alone to get stuff done. Ryan is also starting his fulltime job this week so that pretty much means that basement bar chilling will not occur for at least a week. Such are the trials of the unemployed, I guess. I might go to this job fair thing this week but not if the jobs I find will have take home pay that's less than I'm getting from the state. It's a tricky situation right now.
In bigger news, and I don't know what took me so long to get wind of this on AST, since Keith Olbermann mentioned it on his show in early December, but supposedly once the writer's strike ends there could be an Arrested Development movie in the works. This is very timely because Ryan and I, as I think I've mentioned here, have been having these marathon viewing sessions of the first two seasons. We usually watch about six episodes at a time. We've yet to crack into season 3, and now I don't know when that's going to happen, but if there's a movie, and it actually gets off the ground, it's going to be amazing.
I still want to get back together in the basement to watch The Wall the whole way through. There are so many things we've yet to watch that we keep mentioning to each other and then forgetting about. Mainly because I forget to bring the DVDs to the basement when I go over. Radiohead's Live At The Astoria being chief among these. Speaking of Radiohead i just read today that dates for their North American tour should be posted this week. If I can get tickets for face value, I'll go to at least one show on this tour. With Youtube and the number of webcasts they've been doing I just don't feel this life or death need to go see them anymore. But I still can't wait for the Bonnaroo DVD to come out.

Making a return
Today I got two awesome emails, one from my brother and one from my friend Rachel. She found teachers who are going to let her student teach with them so that's great. Meanwhile, my brother may be starting a new band and finishing a screenplay. He also said that the writer's strike may end soon. I wrote him back with my plans of one day winning the lottery and actually going to the movies this year. I think the last movie I saw in the theater was The Grudge 2 and that sucked so bad. I think I wrote about it's shittiness, but now I'm not sure. I saw it with a woman I used to know and I blame her for making me sit through it.
I really want to see No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood and Cloverfield. Everybody keeps telling me how awesome Cloverfield is and I should at least see that while it's in theaters. This weekend Ryan is going to Maryland so I'm going to be hanging out alone most of the time. I haven't hung out with Dana in so long, but there's no way I want to call him to hang out. He was being so weird last time I saw hime that I decided then (this was back in November) that I'm done with that. Maybe I'll see what George is up to. He's been just spending his time on the computer alot lately. I guess I just need to get some writing done this weekend and not drink. I've got to make the most of my free time while I'm unemployed. We'll see how that goes. I know I'll be watching some Drake & Josh and iCarly this weekend so I'm looking forward to that. Also I updated the Cardiel video post with part IV.
2/7/08

Today, the third part of the Cardiel episode is up on VBS so I updated the post about it, which may not be on the front page here anymore. Anyway, I had a pretty lazy day just doing a lot of reading. Reading the Klosterman book and the new issue of Thrasher with great joy. Tonight I'll read the Mojo magazine I bought when I got those as it has a cover story on Radiohead, thus I had to purchase it. I just went to the Mojo website and the new issue features a cover story on The Smiths. I think they still get one cover a year from every British music magazine. The Radiohead cover is awesome and rainbow-esque, but try as I might, I can't find a pic of it without the free CD that comes with the mag. No big deal.
Last night Ryan and I attempted to watch Pink Floyd's The Wall in the basement but we consumed much alcohol and passed out. We awoke just after Mike's mom came down and discovered us there sleeping. She left us in peace and we then immediately woke up, cleaned up and felt guilty about the fact that we had disturbed her workout plans. I feel really terrible about crashing out like that. I'm allowed to stay at the house pretty much whenever I want as long as sleep in the guestroom. This is because Mike's parents both enjoy working out in the basement each morning and they don't need some idiot passed out down there.
Oh hey, Ryan just texted me and said that they weren't upset at all about our passing out and being worthless slobs! So that's great news. This afternoon I was actually considering sending an apology email. That is such a relief!
I'm going to get back to reading and then walk my dogs with my Mom.
This is a good book
Damn, right now I'm reading this book, Chuck Klosterman's Killing Yourself To Live, and it's fantastic. My friend Rachel had told me, about a year ago, to check him out and I foolishly did not until now. The reason being that it seemed that every hipster I knew was touting Klosterman as some kind of literary messiah and I wanted to be too cool for school and not get into him. But this book, which chronicles a road trip he took to destinations where famous rock stars famously died is, like, one of the best things I've read in years. I will probably read all of his books over the course of the next month or so. This is truly great writing. To celebtrate the seeming end of this ad's omnipresence over the last few weeks, I'm posting it here!

HGH
Yeah, so posting some more Best Show clips for my bro to find here. I can't wait for the Superbowl to start. Since 2006 the Superbowl has always been really special to me. It is a marker for times of change. Last night I drank with Ryan and Mike at the basement bar. It was good times. Also, the Grateful Dead song, "Eyes Of the World" is a fantastic jam.
Gas Station Dogs
A Call From A Poor Millionaire
Smirnoff Ice District Manager
Rock and Roll Dreams'll Come Through (Ted Leo version)
A Talk With the Publisher of Pizza Aficianado Magazine
Tom Sings Belle and Sebastian
The last one is really great and I remember really being into these songs, particularly "I Fought In A War", because of hearing it thanks to the Best Show. It's funny how Tom keeps messing with the caller but it's a great set of songs and I immediately downloaded the album, "Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant".
Not too much else to say. Can't wait for the game to start as Ryan and I have been waiting patiently all day for this shit to get underway. Should be some good commercials anyway, if nothing else. Saw my favorite new thing of '08 yesterday, a new prescription drug called Aciphex. They could have called the drug anything, instead they chose to call it something that sounds like you're saying "Ass effects". The drug has nothing to do with anything assy whatsoever. Pure gold!

Not much new
I'm waiting for Ryan to call me and listening to The Best Show. I'll continue to update the post below as more of the Cardiel episode is online. I have no idea if it's going to be a part a day or what, but I think it will definitely be worth checking out even if you don't care that much about skating. Dude has been through crazy stuff and really shouldn't even be able to walk right now, let alone still get up to hijinx the way he does. I can't wait to watch the whole thing once it's all up. Hope you're having a great day wherever you may be.
Here's a Cardiel interview from right after his accident.
